Summer Project is Built on Teamwork
The intern program this summer at Jovian Concepts comes to an end this month as the talented team of students returns to school. "This was truly an exceptional group of interns!" says their Jovian Intern Manager. "They were each able to bring a valuable skillset to the team and worked well together to bring to life what was a challenging project."
The secret to high achievement given their short window of time? Teamwork. We are pleased to share some of ways the group completed their project by maximizing their ability to work together:
The students worked as a team in a blended Agile SCRUM environment to complete an in-house project for Jovian Concepts. Daily standups and weekly sprints helped them build a web hosted [artificial intelligence] AI chat service. Shared notes and an online message board proved valuable, and the group's teambuilding was enhanced by creating a competition bracket for ping-pong.
The ping-pong tournament served two purposes:
it demonstrated the Jovian Concepts Core Value of Balance by countering the intense learning curve of the summer project with a light-hearted teambuilding activity, and
it introduced the group to many local coworkers who otherwise might have not met the group of interns until their summer showcase in August.
While working with AI, the students were careful to consider the rapidly changing landscape of AI, the data security concerns, and both the advantages and disadvantages of many new technologies.
The group composed a technical paper and presented their project to a large in person and online crowd in August.
The future is bright for this group of young thinkers. We wish them success with the upcoming school year and look forward to seeing where the future takes them!
