Reflecting on 2019
With the new year right around the corner, we reflect on a very successful 2019.
Our commitment to our mission strengthened in 2019. Created by our employees, the mission of Jovian Concepts balances an outward focus on providing support for our customers and an inward focus on supporting each other in a positive corporate culture. As one employee noted in our internal climate survey this year, Jovian Concepts provides “a friendly, supportive family atmosphere with highly talented people who really care about the missions of our customers.”
Supporting our Customers
Jovian Concepts grew to staff 19 programs in 2019, providing a variety of opportunities for future growth in both cleared and uncleared work, on the continental U.S. and beyond.
In 2019 Jovian Concepts acquired ShoreIT Solutions, bringing new employees, customers, and subcontracts, and expanding our capabilities while fitting effortlessly into the Down to Earth—Up to the Challenge model of Jovian Concepts.
A continued priority for the Board of Directors is to maintain the small company atmosphere our employees value while steadily increasing the services we provide our customers. In support of this growth, the Board of Directors for Jovian Concepts welcomed Jody Sandwisch and Corey Clatworthy as Directors this year and will be introducing them to you here on our site in early 2020.
Supporting Each Other
Cohesiveness, a Big Idea integral to both our mission and our core values at Jovian Concepts, was seen throughout 2019. Game nights, happy hours, sports outings, and all hands meetings provided regular opportunities to socialize. The year also saw employees gathering at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, the Guinness Brewery in Baltimore, and for various community outreach projects. Annual gatherings such as family picnics, the anniversary dinner, and our leadership retreat helped fill in the gaps between the two anchor activities of our year—the summer team building trip to Punta Cana and the winter holiday party at Oriole Park at Camden Yards-- which included all-expenses-covered experiences for each employee and their “Plus Ones”.
Our positive corporate culture was recognized in 2019 by two major media outlets in Maryland.
Baltimore Magazine named Jovian Concepts as a Best Place to Work, placing us among such Baltimore legends as Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Orioles.
The Baltimore Sun Media Group awarded Jovian Concepts the Top Workplace for Work/Life Flexibility again this year.
Both honors mean a lot to our employees, whose commitment to the Core Values and Mission of Jovian Concepts proves every day they are Down to Earth—Up to the Challenge.
As we face an exciting new decade, we appreciate the chance to reflect on the past. Our first ten years were enlightening; the decade held some challenges but overall it contained an overwhelming number of rewarding experiences. We are grateful for the amazing people who make and surround Jovian Concepts.
We look forward to what the future holds and wish you and yours a Happy New Year!
