Annual Blood Drive is June 6
We are pleased to announce a new date for our Annual Blood Drive -- Wednesday, June 6, from noon until 5 p.m. The American Red Cross will be on site at 6700 Alexander Bell Drive and representatives of Jovian Concepts, Inc., will be on hand to greet you. Organizer Jan Montoya describes the need, "The Red Cross was trying desperately to recover from back to back hurricanes when the Nor'easter on 3/21 caused them to cancel all the scheduled Blood Drives. Those donations could have helped restock the dangerously low supplies of blood and plasma at the Blood Banks. Now unfortunately, things are critical and they need our help more than ever before!"
On that same afternoon, we will also be collecting non-perishables to give to the Howard County Food Bank, part of the Community Action Council of Howard County. If you are interested in helping, the most requested food items are as follows:
canned and dried fruit
hot and cold cereal
soup
pasta and pasta sauce
canned vegetables (low sodium)
tuna
100% fruit juice boxes
baby food
canned beans (pinto, kidney, black)
coffee and tea
peanut butter
Monetary donations are also accepted for the Food Bank, to be used to purchase perishables.
