What's the Big Idea about Golf?

True confession: not all business people are born to play golf.

A few invitations to discuss business on the golf course made it clear in the early days of Jovian Concepts that some members of the company should know how to play.

In response to that need, the very first Jovian Concepts team building retreat was planned around one central activity, golf lessons for every member of the company.

For many, it didn't go well.

Always "Down to Earth...Up to the Challenge", our employees persevered, often meeting after work to practice.

Before long, Jovian Concepts was bringing home awards from friendly golf tournaments-- or at least from those tournaments that offered Last Place awards.

While we can brag about only a small number of skilled hitters, Jovian Concepts golfers know how to have fun. When our annual team build retreat locations allow it, we hold an internal competition called the Jovian Cup. Teams compete for a coveted, if ridiculous, prize. Though not all of our Jovian Concepts golf fans can putt and swing like pros, the enthusiasm at Jovian Concepts for community outreach and spending time together keeps us on the golf course.

In 2015, under the leadership of Jovian Concepts Vice President Heather Johnson, we put our true skills into action to host our first Jovian Concepts Golf Tournament to benefit the American Red Cross Chesapeake Region's Service to the Armed Forces. Events such as our golf tournament help make possible the programs the American Red Cross provides to active duty military, veterans, and their families. Many of our employees and friends have benefited from the services the American Red Cross offers, so Jovian Concepts is proud to support their work.

With food on the turn, contests, and even a trick-or-treating hole, the annual Jovian Concepts tournament is a mix of serious and not-so-serious golfing.
